Deloitte product manager interviews, as candidates describe them, lean on case-style thinking more than pure product trivia. Several candidates report case rounds: a customer attrition problem, an MVP-building scenario, a product improvement case, and an airline service design exercise presented as if to a client. One candidate said the interviewers cared less about past product credentials than about a consulting-style breakdown of ambiguous problems. Another described a vending machine design prompt where the interviewer pushed for a genuinely innovative idea beyond a basic app.
AI came up in multiple accounts. One candidate was asked how they currently use AI in their work, another how they would bring AI into a business, and a third how they would use it in their role. Concrete, hands-on examples seem to land better than discussion of trends.
Behavioral questions appear in most reports, including motivation, accomplishments, five-year goals and handling ambiguity. One candidate was asked to describe being given a task with little information. Others described scenario questions on crisis decisions that weigh company-wide impact against financial constraints.
Formats differ by team and location. Reports mention a recorded video screen, an online assessment with a group discussion, a super-day style event with group activities, and a case presentation where the candidate picks a topic from a provided list. Outcomes are mixed, with offers and rejections both reported. One candidate also said the role they interviewed for was closer to project management, with a client-owned roadmap, so ask early how much product ownership the position carries. Prepare structured cases, a few detailed past examples and a clear account of your AI experience.

Real interview reports from people who went through the Deloitte process.
After applying, I went through three thirty-minute interviews back-to-back in a single online session. The first was a case interview centered on a customer attrition problem—I was given a scenario and asked to analyze what might be causing it, identify root issues, and outline my approach to uncovering what customers actually needed. The interviewer didn't focus much on my past product experience; instead, they were evaluating how I thought like a consultant, how I broke down ambiguous problems, and how I'd tackle discovery. The second round was behavioral, asking about my role in a team and my motivations. The third was another case, this time more open-ended—if I had to build an MVP, how would I approach it and what technologies would I choose? Throughout, the HR team was pleasant and treated candidates like humans, genuinely getting to know us. The second in-office phase felt much more human and less transactional than the first. Questions were challenging but not gotcha-style; they seemed interested in my actual thinking process. The whole thing had a chill, exploratory vibe despite the packed schedule.
Prep tip from this candidate
Nail case-driven problem solving with a focus on customer discovery and MVP thinking—they want to see your consulting mindset more than your past product credentials. Be prepared to think through how you'd uncover customer needs in ambiguous situations.

Candidates report different openings. One described a recruiter screen, another a pre-recorded video interview that was reportedly assessed by AI, and another an online assessment. Expect to walk through your background and motivation, and consider echoing the job description's wording in recorded answers.
Several candidates report case rounds, sometimes without advance notice. Reported prompts include customer attrition, building an MVP, improving an existing product, designing an airline service experience, and market-sizing or estimation questions. Candidates say interviewers probed assumptions and how clearly the thinking was communicated.
Candidates report behavioral questions about motivation, accomplishments, teamwork and five-year goals. Others describe crisis-decision scenarios and a competency question about handling a task with little information. Specific past examples appear to matter, and some interviewers were senior managers, directors or partners.
Some candidates describe a super-day style event with group activities, a case presentation on a chosen topic, or a final interview with a senior leader. One candidate cleared interviews but reported a team matching phase that did not produce an offer. Expect the final stage to differ by organization.
