Meta Data Analyst candidates describe a fast technical screen, often SQL with Python, then a loop that can include SQL, product sense, statistics and behavioral interviews. Speed and clear reasoning matter most.

Candidates describe the Meta Data Analyst interview as a pace test more than a difficulty test. One candidate had a 50-minute screen with three SQL and three Python questions and answered two of each before time ran out. The recruiter had described that screen as eliminatory, and the candidate did not advance. Much of it felt like recall, so knowing syntax, common functions and standard patterns cold keeps you moving. Another candidate says a case study portion was cut off as soon as time was up, which left little room to recover from slow earlier answers.
SQL questions are described as practical rather than tricky. GROUP BY, HAVING, CASE statements and window functions come up, and accuracy and efficiency under time pressure matter. Explain your thinking clearly as you query. Another candidate found that short answers were not enough, even when the questions were straightforward.
The later loop varies by candidate. One describes four onsite rounds covering SQL, product sense, statistics and behavioral questions, and warns against treating SQL as the whole technical prep. Another describes product sense and analytical thinking alongside SQL. A third had a hiring manager conversation first. That was followed by a behavioral round, a hands-on spreadsheet exercise to find data issues, and a team-specific discussion about data collection.
Do not treat the behavioral round as a formality. One candidate who reached the onsite faced four to six situation-based questions in 45 minutes and believes unpolished stories cost them the offer. Rehearse a small set of adaptable STAR stories out loud and time them. Alongside that, practice timed mixed SQL and Python sets, and prepare a crisp walkthrough of your resume.

Synthesized from candidate reports. Individual experiences may vary.
One candidate started with a recruiter email. Another was told by the recruiter that the first screen is eliminatory and that the full loop is scheduled only after clearing it. Some report an early resume walkthrough or a 30-minute hiring manager conversation about background and education.
One candidate describes a 50-minute screen with three SQL and three Python questions and finished two of each before time ran out. Another faced SQL basics such as CASE, HAVING, GROUP BY and window functions plus Python, with a case study cut off when time expired. A third had a screen on SQL and product sense.
Candidates who reached the loop describe SQL rounds testing practical querying and analytical thinking. One candidate instead had a hands-on exercise exploring a spreadsheet to identify data issues, followed by a team-specific discussion of data collection.
Reports mention product sense discussions focused on how you would think through a product problem. One candidate had a separate statistics round and advises not treating SQL prep as the entire technical preparation.
Candidates report a behavioral interview in the loop. One describes four to six situation-based questions in 45 minutes and says their stories were not concise enough. Another was asked how they handle different situations and work with colleagues.
