The unusual part of my Wipro process was that clearing the hiring interviews did not mean the evaluations were completely over. Before joining, I went through three main rounds. The first was a virtual technical interview covering Python, SQL, PL/SQL, FastAPI, Django, RESTful APIs, and Power BI. The discussion was practical and included questions about my project, basic programming, database design, and how a database could be scaled efficiently. SQL was a major focus, with programming and scenario-based questions rather than only definitions.
The second round was a face-to-face technical interview at a nearby Wipro office. It went further into core concepts and the real-time application of what I knew. I was asked to introduce myself, explain my project, and work through programming and problem-solving questions. The broader assessment pattern also included aptitude and technical MCQs, followed by a coding paper with three DSA-style questions. The difficulty felt manageable and fresher-friendly, but the range was wide: besides SQL and Python, topics relevant to data engineering included Apache Spark, Kafka, Java, and MySQL.
The third round was a virtual HR discussion. This covered salary, work policies, and joining-related matters. I received and accepted the offer, although the joining timeline could depend on project confirmation; immediate joining might mean spending time on the bench.
What surprised me most was the expectation of two additional client-related rounds after joining. The first involved Wipro members, while the second was with the client.
