The strangest part of my process was how much it changed from one round to the next. It started with an HR screening over the phone, and that part was straightforward enough. After that, I had an online interview that took more than four weeks to get scheduled, and the technical side was much simpler than I expected. They asked me to walk through my overall project experience, then moved into basic C questions like a pyramid program with a char array and another problem where I had to remove duplicates from an array and print the result directly in the online console, so I had to be careful about getting the output format right. I also had to explain one of my projects in some detail, which felt like the main way they were judging whether I actually understood my own work.
What threw me off was that the process was not very consistent. I had been told the next conversation would be non-technical, but then I ended up in a much more technical discussion than expected. In that round, they asked about design patterns I had used before and then jumped into an abstract design question about a printing system that handles specific file types. They wanted to know how I would restructure the classes, design the constructors, and organize the implementation. We also talked about testing strategy, including how to validate file types and how to think about sanity, load, and stress testing, plus running tests in parallel. Later, there was a practical assessment with code review and live coding, and I had to explain existing code and then implement a peer-to-peer banking transfer system. Even though I felt I answered the questions well and got the code working, I still didn’t get through. In my case, the process ended up being long, a bit chaotic, and ultimately a rejection, with visa issues also coming up as part of the reason.
