Candidates describing Nvidia software engineer loops report that the questions go beyond generic algorithm practice. Coding is common, including LeetCode-style problems, a balanced-parentheses check, a data structure supporting set, get and setall in O(1), and an online assessment on counting perfect subsequences. But several candidates also describe low-level systems and C/C++ fundamentals as a major part of the interview: implementing a 16-byte-aligned malloc16 in C, a destructor-throwing-exception debugging question, mutex versus semaphore, and linked-list and matrix-multiplication exercises in C and C++.
Project depth matters too. Candidates were pushed on resume details, on how relevant past projects were to the team's current work, and on a feature they had built. Expect to explain why you made design choices, not just what you built.
Some loops add hardware-flavored topics. Candidates mention computer architecture such as the 5-stage pipeline and memory hierarchy, pipeline hazards, simple logic-gate expressions, OS concepts and CUDA familiarity. These appear in specific reports and likely depend on the team, so build a strong general base first.
Pace is a recurring theme. Reports include three C coding questions in each 45-minute interview and a 90-minute round where two interviewers moved quickly through a prepared list of questions. Practice talking while you code and asking clarifying questions early. One candidate also found the recruiter vague about what each round would cover, so ask about the format directly.

Synthesized from candidate reports. Individual experiences may vary.
Candidates report starting with a recruiter contact or screen, and one began with a hiring manager conversation. These typically cover background and experience, and in some reports move quickly into technical questions.
Some candidates report an online test, such as an online hiring test before video interviews or a string-subsequence assessment. Others went straight to live coding. Expect string and array problems.
Candidates describe one to several technical rounds mixing LeetCode-style problems with C/C++ debugging, operating systems and concurrency topics such as mutexes versus semaphores, and sometimes computer architecture or logic questions. Pace can be fast, with multiple problems per round and two interviewers in some reports.
Several candidates report detailed questioning on past projects, resume details, or a feature they built. Interviewers probe design choices and whether your experience matches the team's work. Prepare a concise but detailed walkthrough of your strongest projects.
One candidate reports a hiring manager call followed by onsite-style interviews with the team, and another met a senior engineer and then a hiring director. Rounds may vary by team and level, so confirm the structure with your recruiter, who one candidate found vague about it.
