Multiple interviewees said the conversation kept coming back to how they framed a problem, what data they chose, and why that led to a specific next step. Even when the questions touched technical fundamentals, the real signal was whether the candidate could think like a business partner rather than a report generator.

A recurring theme is the intensity of the “Why Celonis?” question. Candidates described it as a genuine alignment check, not a scripted opener, and several noted that different interviewers asked it from different angles. That tells us the company is screening for motivation that goes beyond brand interest: they want to hear a clear reason you care about process intelligence, cross-functional work, and the product itself. We’ve also seen repeated emphasis on stakeholder management and collaboration, especially in examples involving multiple teams working toward one goal.

The other non-obvious pattern is that Celonis seems to value practical fluency over abstract theory. One candidate was asked about using new software, another about data models, keys, and M-to-N relationships, and another heard that a take-home could involve real client information and a presentation in Celonis. In other words, they care about whether you can get comfortable in their environment quickly and speak credibly about the structure of data and the business context around it.
