Tech Mahindra Software Engineer Interview Guide

Candidates describe Tech Mahindra's Software Engineer interviews as broad but mostly basic, with resume-driven technical questions at the center. Several people report an online assessment first, covering aptitude, reasoning, verbal ability and easy coding, sometimes with an English writing or psychometric section. Several also describe a separate communication round that checks listening, such as repeating a sentence you heard or filling in a missing word. A number of candidates call each stage an elimination round, so passing the early tests matters.

In the technical interview, candidates report being asked to explain projects, internships and their exact role in detail. Java and OOP fundamentals come up repeatedly: abstract class versus interface, inheritance, polymorphism, overloading versus overriding, and multithreading. SQL joins and aggregate functions are also mentioned, along with database tools such as MySQL or PostgreSQL when they appear on a resume. Reported coding tasks are small, such as a palindrome program, and one candidate says a coding question had to be written on paper.

The focus can shift with your background. One candidate with a machine learning project was asked about model performance metrics. Another was asked about Python and about willingness to learn Django. A third got QA concepts such as SDLC and STLC. HR conversations reportedly stay simple and casual, covering topics like relocation and family background.

A practical plan is to rehearse a two-minute explanation of each project on your resume. Review Java OOP and SQL basics, and practice easy coding problems out loud and on paper.
