Discrete Random Variables

A discrete random variable is a function X:ΩZX:\Omega\rightarrow\mathbb{Z}. In practical terms, XX measures "how much" of some quantity results from some event EE in the sample space Ω\Omega. For example, XX might associate the event "getting two heads and one tail" with the number 22 to measure the number of heads we get from all of our flips of a coin.
