DescriptionSr. Software Engineer, Application Administrator, SalesforceAmerican Public Education, Inc.The Senior Software Engineer, Application Administrator Salesforce is responsible for the administration and support of the Salesforce environment at American Public Education, Inc. (APEI), ensuring availability, proper function, and access for the business. Salesforce is APEI's primary customer engagement platform, comprised of Service Cloud, Marketing Cloud, and various AppExchange apps, Omni-Channel, flows, Bulk upload, GearSet, SQL and SOQL. The individual in this role will lead and participate in system configuration, maintenance, system enhancements, upgrades, creation of reports and dashboards, end-user training, and data integrations. They will mentor and assist support staff to ensure accurate and timely diagnosis/resolution of application issues that impact workforce productivity. They will also partner with development staff, business analysts, and business leaders to identify, define, analyze and implement changes and enhancements that meet business requirements in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. The Sr. Application Administrator Salesforce will deploy and maintain custom solutions, extensions, workflows, and integrations. A solid understanding of monitoring for performance, scalability and troubleshooting applications on Salesforce and associated applications. They will be working closely with Software Engineers from requirements to post-production support, as needed. She/he may lead, mentor, and assist other team members to ensure accurate and timely diagnosis/resolution of application issues that impact user productivity. This role will also partner with IT and Business team members to identify, define, analyze and implement changes and enhancements with high scalability, performance, and availability in a dynamic, fast-paced, 24x7 environment.This position reports to the Senior Manager, Software Engineering, CRM. The Senior, Software Engineer, Application Administrator, Salesforce has no direct or indirect reports.Responsibilities :Obtains understanding of the American Public Education, Inc. (APEI) and EU application environment including the applications and interdependencies of those applications.Responsible for the overall configuration, design, functionality and end-user support of the Salesforce platform and supporting applications/components to ensure maximum usability and system availability.Assist with the integration of applications with Salesforce including Marketo, Data Robot, Student Information System, Data Warehouse, etc.Configure and maintain custom objects, record types, fields, page layouts, formulas, data validation rules, custom workflows, approval processes, installed packages, etc.Responsible for deployments to lower testing environments and production environment using manual and automated deployment methods.Maintain user roles and profiles, security settings, access settings, etc. (User Profiles, Role Hierarchy, Sharing Rules and Security) and maintain appropriate documentation.Collaborate with IT Support in the diagnosis and resolution of issues impacting employee productivity and business throughput.Collaborate with IT Analysts and Stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements, and propose solutions that leverage Salesforce functionality.Works with Development team on proposed solutions and documentations, translate approved solutions into actionable deliverables, ensuring high levels of quality, accuracy and process consistency.Manage deployments, data imports, de-duping, backups, and cleanup.Identify production risks and areas for improvement; prioritize, design and facilitate successful implementation and adoption of new processes. Ensure system backups are in place and reliable.Collaborate with Business Operations, Information Technology and other business stakeholders to drive high levels of data integrity and operational reliability of our standardized business analytics, tools and processes.Actively participates in the change management process and follows processes and procedures for the SDLC.Ensures 24x7 availability for identified internal mission critical services supporting on-call rotation environment.Performs other duties as assigned.Requirements :Minimum of 6+ years in Information Technology and participated in all facets of the software development life cycle, including 4+ years of hands-on experience with Salesforce Administration.3+ years of experience in Service Cloud, Marketing Cloud, AppExchange apps, Omni-Channel configuration and routing, integration with third-party applications using SSO, SOQL and SQL, RESTful, SOAP based Web Services, using Salesforce.2+ years of experience in web development using Azure DevOps, APEX Code, DevOps/Agile SDLC, Gearset and CI/CD required.Demonstrated listening, analytical, organizational, and time management skills.Demonstrated ability to work independently.Good knowledge and understanding of server, application, network, and systems.Ability to work collaboratively within a team to solve problems.Methodical, organized and detail oriented.Excellent communication, technical writing and documentation skills are essential.Education :Bachelor's degree preferredAbout Us :Online, on campus and in the workplace, we provide higher education and training to our country's heroes - military service members, veterans, nurses, government employees, and motivated professionals that want to make a difference. She/he may lead coordination of Information Technology (IT) and business user resources for prompt escalation, recovery, and resolutions of applications/systems incidents/defect/bugs/data issues across a dynamic 24x7 enterprise. This position analyzes and supports application issues, enhancements, and service requirements that process business workflows, procedures, administration, and automation improvements to existing and new application/systems. The Senior, Software Engineer, Application Support will be self-motivated, and adept in performing software engineering responsibilities within a deadline and fast-paced environment. She/he will maintain the health of our application/platform production systems, reactively and proactively, as well as managing multiple priorities with stakeholders to deliver business continuity and support.This position reports to the Manager, Software Engineering, Application Support.
