 Business Analyst (finance) Client: Biotechnology / Pharma Company Location: South San Francisco, CA Contract: 12-month W2 beginning May 1st, 2024 Pay Range: $55-65/hour DOE The Business Analyst will partner with Finance and various local and global groups on the delivery of artificial intelligence (AI), insight generation, planning and reporting solutions to Finance. The ideal candidate is curious, open-minded and has a strong desire to obtain knowledge and understanding of the business. Through close business partnership and advisory, he/she delivers high quality technical solutions, enhancements, and process improvements. They apply their strong understanding of Finance processes to develop business requirements for solutions that they also execute on. Their work style heavily involves collaboration and communication with other key players and stakeholders in Technology and Finance across the client company. Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Cultivate and foster trusting relationships with business partners in Finance through frequent face-to-face interactions.</li>
<li>Identify opportunities for simplification and automation of Finance processes.</li>
<li>Translate business requirements into functional requirements and specifications in collaboration with Finance partners.</li>
<li>Influence business partners to distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs.</li>
<li>Analyze and document business processes, workflows, and use cases for solution design.</li>
<li>Partner with the Global IT Solution Center team to ensure effective management and delivery of requirements for new solutions and enhancements.</li>
<li>Gather and evaluate information from multiple data sources for proposed solutions.</li>
<li>Create and maintain solution design, ensuring it meets customer needs.</li>
<li>Ensure the Global IT Solution Center team delivers and maintains operational procedure and solution documentation.</li>
<li>Utilize project management skills to develop testing, validation, and implementation plans and processes to ensure the solution is fit for purpose.</li>
<li>Thoroughly train end-users and efficiently troubleshoot issues in collaboration with the Global IT Solution Center team.</li>
<li>Proactively coordinate retrospective sessions to review and capture lessons learned.</li>

Requirements:

<li>4+ years of experience in business analysis in the Finance area.</li>
<li>BS/BA Degree in finance, information management, or related field.</li>
<li>Experience overseeing the building of analytical solutions.</li>
<li>Experience in SAP Finance, SAP BW reporting, SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC), SAP S3, and SAP S4.</li>
</ul>
Preferred Background:
<ul>
<li>Previous Biotech/pharma experience</li>
<li>Process project management skills</li>
</ul>

Position Description:
This role is part of the Financial Advisor Monitoring and Registration Department, within LCG. This team supports the Risk and Compliance divisions with tools and applications to assist them with their task of monitoring Financial Advisor’s compliance with the Firm’s policies and procedures.
 
As a Business Analyst, you will be responsible for providing business analysis, project management, and data analysis support for tool enhancements: eliciting and documenting business requirements, user acceptance testing, data analysis, and product support. The ideal candidate should have the skills listed below but in addition should be a self- driven, dedicated individual who works well in a team and thinks and acts strategically. When faced with a problem, the candidate should be able to ask questions and leverage the skills and expertise of those around them.
 
Key Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Elicit, analyze, generate Business requirements documents (including Agile user stories, proof of concept models, and supporting documentation)</li>
<li>Analyze data sets to determine data gaps and work with cross functional teams to bridge the gap</li>
<li>Liaise with the development team to ensure the product is developed according to specifications</li>
<li>Conduct Behavior-Driven Development (BDD), write and execute User Acceptance Testing (UAT) test plan</li>
<li>Create and manage the overall project plan at the project level; and escalate delays to the program lead.</li>
</ul>
 
Skills Required:
<ul>
<li>Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science</li>
<li>Minimum 10 years of experience in global organizations as a Technical Business Analyst.</li>
<li>Proficiency in Data Analysis, with working experience in SQL and relational databases</li>
<li>Established technical knowledge in software development life cycle and agile methodologies.</li>
<li>Strong communication skills, both verbal and written; as well as work in an international team setting.</li>
<li>Collaborate effectively across a variety of IT and Business groups, across regions and roles.</li>
<li>Self-motivated individual and creative thinker who will take ownership of tasks assigned.</li>
<li>Ability to problem solve and have creative solutions in challenging environments</li>
<li>Able to thrive in a fast-paced, high energy, demanding and team-orientated environment</li>
<li>Manage and delegate workload through the team</li>
<li>Good customer service skills. Ability to deal with difficult situations gracefully.</li>
<li>Experience in trade lifecycles and asset classes, Equity, Fixed Income, Options, Futures</li>
<li>Understanding of Compliance surveillance platforms (Actimize, MANTAS, Sungard) and their models, Wash trades, Marking the Open/Close, Spoofing, Insider Trading, etc.</li>
</ul>
 
Skills Desired:
<ul>
<li>IT Project Management and SDLC knowledge/experience (Waterfall, Agile/Scrum) and experience using BDD.</li>
<li>Experience working in medium to large-scale development projects.</li>
<li>Knowledge of trades data, positions data, reference data.</li>
<li>Experience in Nasdaq SMARTS platform.</li>
