Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) is seeking a Principal Engineer Software, to join the Vehicle Engineering Software Engineering organization, reporting to the Air Dominance Software Center Director. This position is located onsite in Redondo Beach, CA.

In this role you will design, develop, integrate, and test software for our end-user customers and businesses. Specifically, you will be responsible for the design, architecture, development, and administration of embedded and real time systems. You will work with multi-disciplinary teams, such as with Systems Engineering, Software Development, Integration and Test, including Systems Test, in an Agile software development environment. You will analyze system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls.

Job duties include the following:

Review of software requirements for completeness and understandability.
Perform detailed design, code, and testing of those requirements at the domain level as well as support of system and operational testing.
Support tool development to support streamlining of current processes and development of continuous test integration environment.
Participate in all aspects of the software development lifecycle activities and the Agile process.
Participate in all aspects of the software development lifecycle activities and the Agile process for the F-35 External Communications Software.
This domain provides information broker services between aircrafts and other battlefield assets as well as distributes battlefield information internally to and from other avionics systems.
Review of External Communication requirements for completeness and understandability.
Perform detailed design, code, and testing of those requirements at the domain level as well as support of system and operational testing.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelors of Science in a STEM discipline with 5 years’ software development experience in embedded real-time software; OR 3+ years of experience with a STEM Master's degree or 0+ years with a STEM PhD.
Must be fluent in C++ Object-Oriented Design and Development
Experience in complete software development life cycle
Must have experience with embedded systems for military applications
Must have experience in using integrated development environment tools (e.g. Rhapsody) and real-time operating systems (e.g. Integrity, VxWorks)
Must have US Citizenship
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance
Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with communication protocols, tactical data links, and Military communication standards
Experience in the Agile process
Candidate will be expected to have excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills
Active DoD Secret clearance.
